The Performers

JUDY COLLINS—Silent Night and All On A Wintry Night
Judy Collins is truly the definition of a living legend. Few artists have the staying power as this music icon. She is celebrating her 40th year of recording with 37 albums, top 10 hits, Grammy nominations, and gold and platinum status. Her influence in music and politics has spread over decades. Her vocal interpretations have inspired millions. Judy has always remained a creative and vibrant artist. Website: www.judycollins.com

TROUT FISHING IN AMERICA- I Got a Cheese Log
Trout Fishing in America - the name taken from a Richard Brautigan novel - seems almost as incongruent and intriguing as a picture of this musical duo - Ezra Idlet (guitar) stands six feet nine inches and Keith Grimwood (bass), five feet five and one half inches. Their infectious mix of folk/pop and family music is tempered by the diverse influences of reggae, latin, blues, jazz and classical music. TFIA recordings have garnered three National Indie Awards and multiple Parents Choice Gold and American Library Awards as well as a Grammy nomination. Merry Fishes To All is their 2004 holiday music release. Website: www.troutmusic.com

STEVE EARLE—Nothing But A Child
Steve Earle has been, for the past two decades, one of the more compellingly engaged figures on the American cultural landscape. Steve is the author of best-selling works of fiction (“Doghouse Roses”), a playwright, and a well-known speaker for a variety of populist movements. But it is in his persona as an exceedingly thoughtful, yet fun, country rocker that most people know him, and rightly so. His contribution to the merging of progressive country to the wider rock audience remains huge. Website: www.steveearle.com

TISH HINOJOSA—Arbolito (Little Christmas Tree)
Austin's Tish Hinojosa is known for her ability to blend country, folk and Tejano flavors in songs featuring her crystal-pure voice. Hinojosa grew up in San Antonio, the youngest of thirteen daughters born to immigrant parents. Moving away from San Antonio in 1979, and living in Taos, New Mexico and Nashville before settling in Austin in 1988, Hinojosa's recordings have mostly been bilingual mixtures, including her holiday release From Texas For A Christmas Night. JETHRO TULL (IAN ANDERSON) —Last Man At The Party
Jethro Tull formed in February 1968 from the ashes of two unsuccessful blues/rock bands of the era. Ian Anderson brought his unique and innovative style of flute playing to a public raised on the guitar based British bands who courted acceptance at London's famous Marquee Club. After their first blues-oriented album, titled This Was, the group moved through successive records towards a more progressive sound, and with Aqualung in 1971 achieved their first real international level of success. A few hit singles, notably Living in the Past, livened up their early career although it was as an album band with songs of real substance, that the group really took off, both on record and as a major live concert act. This song is included on the CD A Jethro Tull Christmas. Website: www.jethrotull.com

BILL MILLER— I Saw The Star of Bethlehem
Bill Miller knows firsthand life's keenest joys and sorrows, a man who distills experience into a potent musical style. In the process, Bill Miller blends the Native American and western folk/blues traditions into something wholly new. A Mohican Indian from northern Wisconsin, Bill Miller has long been one of the most admired figures in the Native American music arena and beyond. As an award-winning recording artist, performer, songwriter, activist, and painter, he's been a voice for the voiceless, a link between two great, and clashing, civilizations. BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA w/ TOM WAITS-
Go Tell It On The Mountain
The Blind Boys of Alabama have spread the spirit and energy of pure soul gospel music for over 60 years, ever since the first version of the group formed at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in 1939. Today, founding members Clarence Fountain, Jimmy Carter and George Scott are joined by more recent arrivals Joey Williams, Ricky McKinnie, Bobby Butler, and Tracy Pierce on a mission to expand the audience for traditional soul-gospel singing while incorporating contemporary songs and innovative arrangements into their hallowed style. The enigmatic Tom Waits joins in on this tune from the Blind Boys' CD Go Tell It On The Mountain Website: www.blindboys.com.

PETER CASE- Fourth of July/Christmas Rag-
Peter Case says of himself: "I tell people now I play folk-rock, & they seem to understand ...but the whole truth is more complex: I'm a singer/ songwriter that uses all the American styles to get my stories across : Blues, Rock 'n' Roll, Country, Soul, R&B ...& Folk..plus some rhythmic influences from around the world. I'm trying to forge my own style out of those inherited materials...I've always been into dynamic emotionally charged music you could use to tell a story or paint a picture." JESSE COLIN YOUNG - Some Children See Him
Jesse Colin Young began his career performing in the legendary Greenwich Village coffeehouses during the 1960s. Later, Jesse met guitarist Jerry Corbitt on the New York to Boston folk music circuit and with keyboardist/guitarist Lowell "Banana" Levinger and drummer Joe Bauer they formed The Youngbloods. The song "Get Together" became a worldwide Top Ten hit in 1969, and was followed into the charts by, "Sunlight," and "Darkness, Darkness," both written by Jesse. Many solo albums and tours later, Jesse now lives in Hawaii and has recently released two new CDs, Living in Paradise and Songs for Christmas. Website: www.jessecolinyoung.com

LOWEN & NAVARRO - A Song of Christmas
For more than a decade, Eric Lowen and Dan Navarro have written, recorded and toured for a growing national audience. Their five CDs showcase self-penned songs of experience, colored by supple acoustic-based arrangements centered around their intertwined voices. Songwriters of notable cachet, their works have been recorded by artists as diverse as Pat Benatar (the worldwide Top 5 hit "We Belong"), The Bangles, The Four Tops, Dave Edmunds, The Temptations and a host of others. Out of their success as songwriters came the impetus for forming Lowen & Navarro: They wanted to sing their songs themselves, live and on CD. They've have been doing so since the late 1980's.
